One of the things we love so much about hosting Fair Day is being able to connect Canberra's LGBTIQ communities with organisations and businesses that share and celebrate their values. Fair Day is about discovering new things, not just for members of the public but for Council staff and volunteers too. We asked one of our Major Sponsors, PWC, why Fair Day and Canberra's LGBTIQ communities mean so much to them. Here’s what they said:

It’s easy to say our personal lives shouldn’t affect our work. But in reality, they do.

PwC is committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace and society and is focused on driving research and thought leadership to help individuals, workplaces and government understand the value of LGBTIQ inclusion in the workplace. Supporting events, such as Canberra Fair Day, is an important way to connect with the community and share insights from the work we’re doing in the space.

Did you know that one in five same-sex attracted women have left a workplace before the age of 26 due to a lack of inclusion?

GLEE@PwC and Pride in Diversity have recently published the groundbreaking report, 'Where are all the Women', to explore what might be driving this trend. Findings include the five key areas workplaces should focus on to improve same-sex attracted women’s participation and sense of belonging at work. The report can be accessed here: https://www.pwc.com.au/publications/pdf/where-are-all-the-women-aug18.pdf

GLEE@PwC have also launched the annual ‘Perspectives on LGBTI Inclusion in the Workplace Report’, which captures LGBTI workplace inclusion trends. The survey has found that homophobia in the workplace has been declining. Inclusive teams are at the heart of this, and are the biggest determiner of how comfortable people feel in the workplace. The full report can be accessed here: https://www.pwc.com.au/publications/lgbti-inclusion-report-18.html

PwC is privileged to return to CBR Fair Day this year as Major Sponsors, excited to connect with friends and faces, old and new, and share some of our research insights with Canberra’s LGBTIQ community.
