Recent changes at the Council signal a new guard and new adventures

The only thing that is constant is change and the Council has had some staff and board changes in the last few months.  The wonderful Sue Webeck has resigned from the Council and we had a fun farewell do to mark this occasion and thank Sue for her amazing work and dedication to the sector.  Sue is going back to ANU in a long term positon.  I know this was a difficult decision for Sue because she is committed to and passionate about the LGBTIQ community and the community sector more broadly.

We are very fortunate because Sue will stay connected with the Council as a critical friend and I am most grateful to her for her ongoing support and fabulous skills and knowledge which she has conveyed at the Council and shared with me over the past couple of years.

I’m very excited to let you know that Joshua Anlezark has taken up the position as Deputy Executive Director on a contract basis.  Josh has resigned from the Board to take up this position on the staff team.  Josh has incredible passion and energy for the community sector and for the communities we serve.  I have no doubt that Josh will hit the ground running and has the inside track with his past couple of years serving on the Board of the Council.

The other staffing addition is our good friend Robert Henderson, who has been around for many years and was once a board member, is assisting in a casual positon as Corporate Support Officer.  On the Board front, Nathan Moy (lawyer from Clayton Utz) has rejoined the Board and will add wonderful value to the team.  https://www.aidsaction.org.au/home/about-us.html

I value change and the opportunity to re-evaluate our work agenda and the contribution we all make.  I have asked the staff team to all reflect on the importance of their work and the critical role they play in carrying it out.  Imagine if you couldn’t change your mind or say ‘no’ occasionally – this is change.

The Council is a great place to work and an amazing community of people.  Every day I learn something new, every day is an adventure, every day I have to go outside my comfort zone and every day I embrace change !
