AIDS Action Council offers a range of free peer based workshops for members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and sex and gender diverse communities.

The workshops provide an opportunity for our community to come together in small groups with peer facilitators and discuss relevant issues and life experiences with the aim of learning about our bodies, our relationships and our health in a safe and inclusive environment. Out There! is a workshop for young guys 16 to 25 who are into other guys.

Out There! is a workshop for young guys 16 to 25 who are into other guys.

A fun and friendly workshop that uses discussions and activities to explore the issues that matter to young gay, bi and same sex attracted men in and around Canberra.

Out There! covers coming out, self-esteem, homophobia, sexual health including HIV, relationships, negotiating safer sex, LGBTI networks in Canberra, and where and how to meet other guys. It is held over either two Saturdays or four weekday evenings.

Looking Out is a short discussion-based workshop for men, aged over 25 attracted to other men.

Topics discussed in Looking Out includes coming out, self-esteem, homophobia, sexual health (including HIV/AIDS), relationships, negotiating safer sex, LGBTI networks in Canberra, and where and how to meet other guys. It is held over either 2 Saturdays or 4 weekday evenings. This casual and friendly environment covers topics that are important to gay, bi and same sex attracted men in Canberra and surrounding area.

The Stepping Out workshops are open to all same sex attracted women who are 16 years and older.

Stepping Out covers coming out, self-esteem, homophobia, sexual health, relationships, negotiating safer sex, LGBTI networks in Canberra, and where and how to meet other lesbian, bi and same sex attracted women. Stepping Out is held over either 2 Saturdays or 4 weekday evenings, and is a fun and friendly environment where same sex attracted women can discuss issues, share stories and participate in some fun activities together.

Together helps you to develop skills around relationships, communication, sex and intimacy

Together is run by our most experienced facilitators and aims to build relationship skills for all men in, or wanting to be in, relationships with other men. It covers a variety of challenges that relationships bring up like expectations, communication, sex and intimacy. You can be single or in a relationship to participate in this non-therapeutic workshop.

Man2Man workshops take our regular workshops to the next level. This is an advanced workshop that talks candidly about gay men’s sex and sexuality, and includes frank discussion and explicit imagery to explore sex, risk and pleasure in more detail than our regular workshops. This is currently a two day/12 hour program that helps men understand their sexual physiology, how sex and pleasure work, and how to reduce risk of HIV transmission without reducing pleasure.

Discuss and demystify how gay and bisexual men use different venues and platforms to find sex.

The Cruising workshops are a chance for guys to discuss and demystify how they use different venues and platforms to find guys for sex. How do you find them? What is safe? What is the law in the ACT for beats? Which hookup app is for me? Cruising encourages guys to share. This is a 4-5 hour seminar run by experienced volunteer facilitators.

Learn how to manage yourself online, reduce harm and keep yourself safe when meeting guys!

It can be intimidating trying to meet guys online with so many different dating sites and apps, not to mention social media. Logged On workshops look at how to manage yourself online to reduce harm to yourself and your digital identity, as well as how to safely meet in person and what to do if reality doesn’t live up to well edited photos.
