Stop the Drama Downunder!
The new phase of 'The Drama Downunder' is out now!
Drama Downunder is a nation-wide campaign encouraging gay men and other men who have sex with men to become more savvy about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and get regular sexual health checks.
Produced by the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations (AFAO), the multi-media campaign encourages homosexually active men in Australia to take care of business downunder, by improving their sexual health knowledge and getting regular sexual health checks.
President of AFAO, Bridget Haire, points out why this new phase of the campaign is needed. 'STIs remain an ongoing concern for gay men. A campaign such as this needs to be sustained over an extended period of time for maximum impact and to get more men to go for regular sexual health checks.'
STIs can also be of particular concern to people living with HIV and this campaign explains what these impacts are and shows why regular sexual health checks are important for all HIV-positive gay men.
The campaign's redesigned website, www.thedramadownunder.info, provides comprehensive information about STIs, testing and treatment, as well as lists and interactive showing where men can get tested in their area.
The site also features two interactive services: users can sign up for SMS or email reminders to book in for their sexual health checks; and people who have recently been diagnosed with an STI can notify their partners via SMS or email, anonymously if they wish, in order to look after the health of their partners.
